THANK YOU PEMBINA MINOR HOCKEY VOLUNTEERS !

The PMHA would like to thank all the people who recently volunteered at the Oilers 50/50 and at the Gold Dust Casino.  Many familiesworked hard at each event making it possible to keep our ice fees low and help with other improvements such as new team jerseys andupdated equipment.  Over 30 of our volunteers don't even have children in hockey, so we'd like to give those volunteers an extra thank you!  All of the parents and children involved in PMH benefit from the funds we raised at these two events and without the hard work of the volunteers it would not have been possible.
So THANKS TO:

GOLD BANNER WIN FOR PMHA’S ATOM DEVILS

The Atom team consisted of 19 Devils 3 of which had never played before, but it didn’t take long before they knew the rules and love of the game. Out of the 19 there were 5 Devilets enough for their own line, and what a line it was….Girl Power! There was also a QLT line, BLT line, and a Shriek line consisting of Donkey, Charming, and Puss. The Devils hosted a home tournament in October, the Atom 4 on 4 for Zone 3 in November, participated in an “A” tournament in Sangudo and a “C” tournament in Redwater.  They rode in style to one Redwater game on a Chartered bus, loaded with pizza, snacks, laughs and a lot of good memories. They didn’t win that game but didn’t care; it was a race to see who could get undressed the fastest to get the back seat on the bus.  You knew when the Devils were in the building with their signature “Burn it to the Ground” by Nickelback blaring from the dressing room. Provincial playoffs were going great and it looked like they would be heading to the Provincial tournament in Oyen but they lost out in the final to Mayerthorpe, they wished Mayerthorpe good luck and lined up to dye their hair pink….they lost that bet with their coaches. Speaking of Coaches, Thank-you Clayton, Crystal, and Dave for doing a great job leading the Devils this season. With only loosing one league game they tied New Serepta for first place, but took second due to points for and against. The Devils then blazed their way through League playoffs and ended up meeting New Serepta in the final. The Devils had finally meet their match, they lost the first game in New Serepta by one, which meant that when they brought the second game back to the home barn they had to beat New Serepta by two points. The Devils came out blazing, and by the end of the second were leading on the scoreboard 3-1. New Serepta came back hard in the third. The fans cheered and got to watch some good, clean, nail-biting hockey, but in the end with not time to spare the Devils won 6-4. After the goalie was dug out from under the pile of burning flames, and gloves were picked up off the ice the Devils proudly took a victory lap with their new trophy – 1660’s Gold Division Gold Champions Banner.
